The team had the pleasure of welcoming Mark Cowling, founder of the Charity Eddie’s Wish, to the office in June 2023. Mark sadly lost his father Eddie, to a heart attack 11 years ago. Had a defibrillator been available at the time of his father’s heart attack, this would have given Eddie an 87% chance of survival, an astonishing statistic. As well as working as a Watch Manager for Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service, Mark has since dedicated his time to educate and raise awareness of the importance of having a defibrillator close by.
Mark is fundraising to provide Emergency Personnel with a defibrillator to keep within their cars. This will allow them to provide immediate life support in emergency situations, using the skills that they have learnt in their professional environments. This is part of GoodSAM, a responding scheme that supports the NHS and ambulances throughout the UK. GoodSAM have an app that notifies the responder, like Mark, of the emergency and shows users where defibrillators are located. A GoodSAM responder can potentially get to an incident within minutes, this is already helping to save lives.
We are pleased to announce that there is now a defibrillator installed in our reception for use in an emergency situation in the locality. All of our staff have received a hugely educational demonstration by Mark to prepare them if ever faced with such an emergency situation.
Our office is based at 25 Exeter Road, Newmarket, Suffolk, CB8 8AR and the office opening hours are 8.30 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday. Please spread the word so there is public awareness of this Defibrillator which is available for use during our office hours.
