We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our team at Edmondson Hall Solicitors have raised £9,415.30 for our 2023 Charity of the Year – Royal Papworth Charity. A charity that has a close personal connection to a few of our team members, it has been extra special to be able to hand over such a substantial amount of money.
Michael Drake – Consultant at Edmondson Hall who has been practicing law for 50 years says “I was given total Rolls Royce service on both occasions at Papworth and have been able to enjoy a full life since my procedures. They have my profound thanks.”
Michael underwent a sextuple coronary bypass surgery which is considered to be one of the most intricate and surgically challenging of operations. About 5 years later he unfortunately collapsed and as a result needed a coronary stent. Both procedures were undertaken at Papworth Hospital and were very successful.
Barry Crabtree-Taylor – Consultant at Edmondson Hall has been involved with the hospital since 2008. He went on to become a Governor of Papworth Hospital, serving as such for the maximum permitted period of nine years and for many of those years as chairman of its Forward Planning Committee, which was responsible for overseeing the construction of and move to the new hospital on the Cambridge Bio Medical Campus, on the same site as Addenbrookes Hospital.
In 2023 Barry had his own experience of being a patient at the hospital, he said “I had day surgery at the hospital for a condition known as Atrial Fibrillation (a rapid heartbeat). My treatment was exemplary and, I am pleased to say, successful. Royal Papworth Hospital is not just a hospital, it is an internationally renowned centre of excellence for cardiac thoracic medicine.”
Since 2008 Barry has been a regular financial donor to the Royal Papworth Charity and in recognition of this, he was awarded membership of the coveted Black Swan Club.
Maxine Taylor – Head of Fundraising at the charity said “The fundraising and support from all the staff at Edmondson Hall has been exceptional and it has been truly wonderful to be the chosen charity of the year for 2023. To have raised almost £10,000 is just fantastic. Such generosity enables us to champion pioneering medicine and drive innovative surgical advances. The ripple effect of this contribution will not only transform the lives of hundreds of thousands of patients but also leave an indelible mark on the global landscape of heart and lung medicine.
